We Make Opera Popular in Taos
Prior to the MET Live in HD broadcast of Die Walkure at the Taos Center for the Arts, the Taos Opera Guild will host a Preview Breakfast at The Taos Community Auditorium. After enjoying a KoKo’s breakfast at your own expense, there will be a preview talk. The preview, delivered by Joe Stehling, is an ideal introduction to the history of the opera, the current production and provides an opportunity to ask questions. This would be the perfect primer for an opera novice, so all who are interested are encouraged to come for breakfast, the preview or both!
PLEASE NOTE THE BREAKFAST START TIME AT 8:30m
You must make a reservation for the Preview Breakfast! If you register/RSVP on the Taos Opera Guild website for the breakfast, a reservation will be made for you. If you don't register, please call us at (575) 770-0243 by Friday, March 29th to make a reservation for the Preview Breakfast.
In what is expected to be a Wagnerian event for the ages, soprano Christine Goerke plays Brünnhilde, Wotan’s willful warrior daughter, who loses her immortality in opera’s most famous act of filial defiance. Tenor Stuart Skelton and soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek play the incestuous twins Siegmund and Sieglinde. Greer Grimsley sings Wotan. Philippe Jordan conducts.
Runtime is 4 hours 55 minutes including 2 intermissions.
